The African Research Network is a unique community of cardiologists, epidemiologists and pharmacists dedicated to advancing global health by developing high-quality research on NCDs from Africa. It was created in Dakar, Senegal, in 2018 and involves 37 medical centers and 14 universities in 20 countries in sub-Saharan Africa – and counting!
Encourage innovative research on NCDs in Africa
To achieve the best health results, we are committed to enabling African doctors to develop their own innovative programs to study non-communicable diseases and to benefit themselves from the results obtained.
Advancing global health through collaboration
The African Research Network has formed a unique multidisciplinary team of researchers to make significant changes in the understanding of the prevalence and etiology of non-communicable diseases in Africa and other low- and middle-income countries.
Train the next generation of researchers
We have hired post-doctoral researchers, doctoral students and interns in our programs to train the next generation of international research leaders.
Our multidisciplinary network develops its research projects according to the needs identified in the field. Our results aim to provide evidence on which effective public health decisions can be developed. The studies listed below have been conducted in more than a dozen African countries. Our publications include co-authors from all participating teams.
Many studies are ongoing on rheumatic heart disease, diabetes, stroke and other NCDs.
